FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 PM EDT SUNDAY APRIL 19TH
High water volumes have been reported across much of the Cheboygan
River basin. This Flood Warning addresses the high water levels
affecting the Cheboygan River UPSTREAM of the Cheboygan Dam.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is occurring.
* WHERE...Areas in Emmet and Cheboygan counties within the Cheboygan
River basin UPSTREAM of the Cheboygan Dam. This includes the Maple
River, Crooked Lake, Crooked River, Burt Lake, Indian River,
Mullet Lake, and the Sturgeon River.
* WHEN...Until 630 PM EDT Sunday Apr 19 or when water levels begin
to recede.
* IMPACTS...Flooding is occurring. Roads and structures near lakes
and rivers will continue to see water rises due to recent rainfall
and snowmelt. Additional rainfall is anticipated through the
remainder of the week, which can lead to further water rises
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 735 PM EDT, Various reports of flooding have been reported
by law enforcement, emergency management, and the public.
Water is affecting buildings in Alanson. Water is covering
the runways at Pellston Regional Airport and has resulted in
the closure of the airport. High water is also being reported
along Burt Lake and into Indian River.

Burt Lake State Park, Topinabee, Burt Lake, Mullet Lake,
Brutus, Aloha State Park, Koehler Township, Reasoners Corner,
Afton, Oden, Alverno, Levering.

This is a prolonged flooding event in the affected areas. Be
prepared for impacts from high water to last through the week, and
potentially longer. Ice on area lakes will slow the flow of water
and may prolong the timeframe of this event.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
