Description

The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a Fire

Weather Watch for breezy winds and low relative humidity, which

is in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.


* WINDS...Today southwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts 40 to 50 mph.

Tuesday 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.


* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Today as low as 9 percent. Tuesday as low as

10 percent.


* TEMPERATURES...Today and Tuesday, in the 80s to low 90s.


* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will have the potential to

spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.


* SEVERITY...


FUELS (ERC)...70th-89th percentile...4 (out of 5).


WEATHER...Near Critical...3 (out of 5).


FIRE ENVIRONMENT...7 (out of 10).

Instructions

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions

are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of

strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will

create favorable weather for rapid fire growth and spread. Avoid

activities that promote open flames and sparks.


A Fire Weather Watch means that the potential for critical fire

weather conditions exists. Listen for later forecasts and

possible red flag warnings.
