The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a Red Flag Warning for wind, dry fuels, and low relative humidity,
which is in effect from noon today until 8 PM EDT this evening.
* AFFECTED AREA...Rabun and Habersham.
* TIMING...From noon today until 8 PM EDT this evening.
* WINDS...Southwest 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
* HUMIDITY...As low as 25 percent.
* FUEL MOISTURE...low
* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread
quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of gusty
winds, low relative humidity, warm temperatures, and dry fuels
can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
