TYPHOON WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT
* WHAT...Typhoon Warning. Tropical storm force winds of 40 to
60 kt are expected as early as this evening, with typhoon force
winds of 64 kt or greater late Tuesday morning or early afternoon
Tuesday. Seas are building to 30 feet or more by Tuesday.
* WHERE...Rota, Tinian, and Saipan Coastal Waters.
* WHEN...Through at least Wednesday evening.
* IMPACTS...Conditions will be catastrophic for small craft and
extremely dangerous for large vessels. Seek safe harbor as soon
as possible.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Tropical storm winds are expected to move
into the waters this evening with typhoon winds late Tuesday
morning or early Tuesday afternoon. The past few forecasts have
shifted the track northward, so strongest winds will likely be
around Tinian and Saipan.
A typhoon warning means sustained winds of 64 kt or 74 mph or
greater are expected.
